Position: Radiology Technologist - Redbank Radiology Imaging - Full Time - Varies

Perform routine radiographic, fluoroscopic and portable examinations in the diagnostic department of Radiology, on nursing units, outpatient areas, and the surgery department.

Responsibilities
  • Takes radiographs per physician orders.
  • Achieves a 95% satisfactory film rate as measured by repeat rate.
  • Completes exams following procedures outlined in the routine book, including signing out requests with correct information.
  • Ensures all requests contain history pertinent to the ordered exam.
  • Demonstrates versatility within the diagnostic department.
  • Performs exams in the following areas without assistance:
    Routine room, IVP, fluoroscopy, portable (c-arm and routine radiograph), and GU.
  • Protects all patients and employees from unnecessary radiation.
  • Uses diagnostic technical factors while avoiding unnecessary radiation; employs shielding when appropriate without compromising the exam.
  • Ensures coning and use of lead orientation markers on all films.
  • Manages front‑desk operations and computer systems; reports equipment problems to the manager and Clinical Engineers.
  • Schedules exams throughout the department and alerts a supervisor when necessary.
  • Uses the central transport program for patient transportation.
  • Looks up pertinent information in the computer systems concerning patient exams, ordering, reprinting or canceling.
  • Interacts professionally with other departments.
  • Effectively calls in needed on‑call imaging associates as required.
  • Communicates all equipment problems to Clinical Engineering via the 24‑hour phone number; informs co‑workers verbally or in writing.
  • Alerts managers to all equipment problems (paging during on‑call periods) if necessary.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
  • Remains available for assignment as needed.
  • Assists Radiologic Technologist Students.
  • Performs operationally required duties associated with equipment quality assurance, regulatory compliance (ODH, Joint Commission), ordering supplies, scheduling staff, and hospital and departmental audits.
Patient Records Access

Access to patient records is a responsibility of all designated personnel. Access is limited to records pertinent to patient care or regulatory requirements and occurs only when necessary to carry out duties as part of the imaging team. Confidentiality and protection of all records is the responsibility of each individual. Access may occur for the following reasons:

  • Pre‑procedure in preparation for the scheduled exam.
  • During the procedure in care of the patient.
  • Post‑procedure to follow up on care.
  • To QA processes to ensure data is correct.
  • To conduct retrospective reviews for education, research, or compliance with ODH, MQSA, ACR or other regulatory requirements.
  • To respond to daily calls from patients, other departments, physicians or Physician’s offices requesting review of historical procedure records.

Documentation of access must occur where appropriate and feasible in log form, comments in EPIC, HIM or McKesson, or other available media/format.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge &

    Skills:

    Knowledge of medical terminology, isolation and sterile techniques/procedures. Patient positioning and equipment operation (x‑ray machines and printers).
  • Education: Graduation from an ARRT accredited radiologic technology school, or completion of on‑the‑job experience/training allowing certification.

    Certifications:

    Must have successfully graduated from a program accredited by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and be eligible for ARRT certification in Radiology. Must obtain a valid Ohio license as a Radiographer within 4 weeks after start date.
