Hospital Based Patient Advocate
Join Elevate Patient Financial Solutions® as a Hospital Based Patient Advocate and help guide uninsured hospital patients through their healthcare financial journey. This full‑time, onsite position is located in Cincinnati, OH, Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
Pay Range$18.00/hr – $23.00/hr
Job SummaryThe purpose of this position is to connect uninsured hospital patients to federal, state, and county programs that will cover their medical expenses. As a Patient Advocate, you will evaluate eligibility, complete applications, and guide patients face‑to‑face through the process, ensuring thorough documentation and follow‑up. The goal is to screen 98% of patients at bedside.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Screen uninsured hospital patients at bedside to determine eligibility for assistance programs.
- Complete and follow up applications until approval.
- Document all cases accurately and timely in Elevate PFS and hospital systems.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and hospital staff.
- Maintain the assigned work queue of patient accounts.
- Communicate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors in person and via written correspondence.
- Answer inbound calls, make outbound calls, and track enrollment and renewal paperwork for prospective Medicaid patients.
- Maintain timely contact with applicants and government agencies by phone and the daily work queue.
- Assist applicants with gathering required reports or records and schedule transportation if needed.
- Conduct community visits as needed to acquire documentation.
- Inform clients of approvals and denials in a timely manner per established protocols.
- Attend ongoing training to stay informed on current rules and regulations.
- Maintain regular and timely attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Some college coursework preferred.
- Prior hospital experience preferred.
- Adaptability to changing processes, systems, and programs.
- Experience with state and federal programs.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Ability to navigate a hospital environment and attend patient rooms during shifts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Multitasking capability to meet performance metrics in a fast‑paced setting.
- Professional appearance according to client dress code.
