Office of Hamilton County, Ohio.

Pay range: $18.00/hr - $18.00/hr.

Work location:

River City Correctional Center, 3220 Colerain Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45225.

Work hours:

80 Hours Bi-Weekly (7:00 am- 7:00 pm).

Starting salary: $18.00 an hour.

Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification)
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Any combination of training and work experience that indicates possession of the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Associate Degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • One year of working experience in the field of criminal justice, preferably in a correctional facility.
Licensure and Certification Requirements
  • Possession of a valid Ohio Operator’s License.
Job Duties (Summary)
  • Maintain an atmosphere conducive to agency philosophy and humane living conditions.
  • Be aware of resident treatment/habilitation plans and needs, and assist residents in working toward completion of contractual objectives.
  • Respond to resident needs and conflicts preventatively to reduce volatile situations.
  • Enforce Residential Program Rules and Regulations and follow appropriate reporting procedures for violations.
  • Ensure resident movement follows facility procedures, monitor residents entering and leaving program by following established sign‑in/sign‑out procedures.
  • Provide wake‑up services to residents during all on‑duty hours.
  • Monitor resident curfews and record them properly.
  • Conduct urinalysis according to established procedures when required.
  • Handle crisis and emergency situations in program, call for assistance when needed, and document all such incidents per agency policy.
  • Report any positive or negative resident behavior incidents using established reporting procedures.
  • Assist in supervising Center recreational activities.
  • Assist in supervising resident visitation and ensure established policies and procedures are followed.
  • Assist with resident intake/orientation procedures and document as required.
  • Transport residents and facility employees/documents as requested when required.
  • Read the logbook daily and record all shift activities comprehensively.
  • Conduct visual head counts, isolation checks, facility shakedowns, and resident searches.
  • Monitor, identify and document all individuals entering and leaving the River City Correctional Center.
  • Supervise, direct, and evaluate completion of resident housekeeping assignments, ensuring necessary cleaning supplies are available.
  • Strictly adhere to the key control system established by the agency.
  • Dispense/receive linens for residents.
  • Supervise meal service to residents, including seating and monitoring food intake; assist kitchen crew if necessary.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding information obtained and processed in operation of the River City Correctional Center.
  • Remain alert throughout the shift and maintain contact with personnel on duty to be aware of unusual situations.
  • Answer facility telephone in the absence of the Receptionist and monitor resident business telephone calls.
  • Support, cooperate, and work with other facility staff to meet program needs.
  • Be on‑call in case of scheduling problems or emergencies.
  • Transport residents to community resources as needed.
  • Enforce rules and schedule of the facility.
