HR Manager – Automotive Manufacturing (U.S. Operations)
Role Overview: A leading Japanese automotive manufacturer is expanding its presence in the U.S. and seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Manager to join its U.S. organization. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape HR strategies and strengthen Employee and Labor Relations across multiple manufacturing sites.
GeneralSummary:
Under general supervision, manages a range of human resource duties to support the manufacturing plant associates and management team. Lead Employee Relations & Labor Relations and other related HR initiatives for multiple sites.
Responsibilities:- Develop HR practices, processes and strategies which align with the overall business strategy
- Develop and implement recruitment processes (hourly and salary)
- Oversee the plant recruitment processes
- Assess the need for training and design and implement training programs accordingly
- Develop and maintain positive relationships between the company and its unionized employees
- Handle contract negotiations, grievances and arbitration (level 4 and arbitration)
- Oversee employee relations, including policies, performance management, discipline and terminations
- Ensure that company procedures comply with employment regulations
- Manage company’s appraisal system and provide feedback to plant managers
- Coach and counsel management on policies and procedures
- Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital
- Develop and lead programs and procedures which promote a positive employee relations environment
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5–10 years of progressive HR experience in an automotive or manufacturing environment
- Proven experience managing union contracts, negotiations, and labor relations
- Strong knowledge of HR metrics, systems, and databases
- Strong leadership with a people-oriented, results-driven approach
- Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Proven ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organization
- In-depth understanding of U.S. labor laws and HR best practices
- Strategic thinker with the ability to influence and coach management teams
- Understanding of Japanese business culture and communication style is a strong plus
This position includes direct supervisory responsibility for other HR professionals and staff.
