Position: Sr Data Reporting Analyst, The Graduate School

Job Overview

Perform business analysis using statistical techniques, explanatory and predictive modeling, and data mining to generate high‑quality reports for operational and executive decision‑making in graduate education and research. The position may work remotely three days per week and requires on‑campus presence as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Determine best practices and develop actionable, data‑driven insights and recommendations to support organizational decision‑making. May be requested to create executive summaries, briefings, and benchmark reports.
  • Work with departments to define business problems and questions; perform analysis and provide technical writing support.
  • Collaborate with data architects or application specialists to identify required data sources for analytical projects or complex reports.
  • Research, collect, develop, and implement data analysis for gaps, competition landscape, and infrastructure alignment.
  • Utilize ETL tools to automate standard reporting.
  • Evaluate data sets, identify new data types, synthesize metrics, monitor data quality, identify inconsistencies, and recommend optimizations to improve business processes and performance.
  • Develop load plans using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) or similar tools and build dashboards with OBIEE/OBIA and Tableau or equivalent visualization software.
  • Monitor fund balances and budget reporting; coordinate with departments and faculty for funding opportunities.
  • Maintain databases for analyzing sponsored research productivity.
  • Provide direct or indirect supervision to exempt and non‑exempt staff as required.
  • Coordinate collection and submission of external surveys (e.g., NSF, NIH, GSS, CGS‑GRE) and internal surveys (e.g., graduating exit student surveys).
  • Contribute to Academic Unit Reviews and other ad‑hoc projects.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline involving statistical analysis, scientific method, and survey research (e.g., Mathematics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Social Sciences).

Required Experience
  • At least three (3) years of experience in data analysis, managing data sets, and generating reports from large databases.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience working with graduate student data is preferred.
Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tools.
  • Experience with MS Power BI.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
  • Office environment; no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive salary range of $85,000 – $90,000 based on experience.
