Our Predictive Analytics team invites a Principal Data Scientist to lead the planning and execution of the organization’s AI/ML strategy. In this senior role you will develop, deploy, and maintain cutting‑edge AI/ML models that drive business growth, inform strategic initiatives, and revolutionize decision‑making. Collaboration with senior stakeholders, data engineering teams, and cross‑functional partners will be essential for identifying complex business problems and delivering data‑driven solutions.

Purpose

Use data and statistical analysis to drive business decisions and target improved results across various functional areas.

Responsibilities
  • Lead development and execution of the AI/ML strategy.
  • Develop, deploy, monitor, and maintain predictive models using Python, focusing on AI and machine learning techniques to drive business outcomes.
  • Utilize Large Language Models (LLMs) to create innovative solutions for natural language processing and text analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify business problems and develop data‑driven solutions.
  • Work closely with data engineering teams to design and implement data pipelines and architectures.
  • Prepare and complete predictive analytics analysis and modeling with guidance on complex projects.
  • Present insights and results to customers (internal & external) and management in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Identify data anomalies, operational issues, and propose specialized analytics and modeling techniques.
  • Document and communicate assumptions, results, and alternatives to team members and internal customers.
  • Support rate filings or modeling practices when communicated with regulators.
  • Create and maintain modeling best practices and new techniques in coordination with business partners.
  • Explain advanced analytic and modeling procedures in accessible language for non‑technical audiences.
  • Understand customers’ requests, uncover hidden issues, and propose feasible solutions.
  • Schedule and prioritize workload demands and maintain excellent organization.
  • Complete technical peer reviews and build professional oral and written communications.
  • Develop relationships across multiple interactions and teams.
Required Technical Skills
  • Expert‑level proficiency in Python, including Num Py, pandas, and scikit‑learn.
  • Experience with other programming languages such as R.
  • Deep understanding of AI and machine learning concepts, including supervised, unsupervised, deep learning, and natural language processing.
  • Experience with Databricks or similar big‑data platforms.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
  • Experience in an agile environment, including Scrum or Kanban.
  • Committed to testing, validation, and continuous improvement of models and workflows.
  • Experience with MLflow for model management, versioning, and deployment.
Skills / Knowledge / Experience
  • Lead a team that completes modeling projects and statistical analysis.
  • Effectively communicate results to business partners and help drive decisions.
  • Participate in creating and discussing best practices, proposing new techniques.
  • Assist in managing projects and directing junior team members.
  • Six (6) or more years of data science or predictive analytics experience in insurance, or eight (8+) or more years of predictive modeling experience in another industry.
