The Role
Working as a Target Language(s) Interpreter through Lango you will:
- Facilitate communication between clients, patients and families with LEP and customer staff.
- Provide accurate, comprehensive, and professional interpreting services in‑person or remotely.
- Recognize the complexity of the encounter (clinical, educational, legal) relative to the language barrier, adjust communication to the level of understanding and/or need for clarification.
- Use culturally appropriate behavior to choose the appropriate time to clarify or interject.
- Maintain a sense of cultural awareness while respecting the goals of the encounter.
- Staff Interpreter must have reliable transportation and be available to travel anywhere within the Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Dayton areas.
- Staff interpreter must have access to a cell phone with texting capability and keep this always with them.
- Staff interpreter must check in their employee portal each morning, each evening, and as much as possible during the day to keep up with the scheduled appointment flow.
- Staff Interpreter must maintain timely and efficient communication with the assigned Interpreter Relation Associates – IRAs in reference to schedules and cope up with the schedule changes.
- When an immediate appointment is not available the staff interpreter must be willing to complete observations of contracted interpreters for quality control and feedback as assigned by the supervisor.
- Staff Interpreter must adhere to ethical and Professional Standards and comply with HIPAA rules.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of work experience in a medical interpreting role, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Medical interpreter training certificate.
- Completed the Leveling Program at CCHMC.
