Operations Manager in Training – Mike's Carwash
Starting pay up to $27/hr, plus incentives.
General Manager or equivalent experience is required, including proven ability to lead and develop small teams, hit goals consistently, and execute day‑to‑day upkeep of facilities and/or equipment. A degree in an applicable field may substitute for operational experience.
Position SummaryThe Operations Manager in Training is a working manager responsible for learning all aspects of the performance and effective operation of a Mike's location in preparation for a General Manager role.
Primary Responsibilities- Execute the Mike’s Purpose and deliver on our Team Member Promise. This includes being a “role model” for associates’ behavior and performance.
- Satisfy customers by maintaining acceptable wash quality, staffing, and professionally handling customer complaints and damages. Track and respond to feedback on various customer platforms.
- Develop Management Team through timely completion of checklists, one‑on‑one meetings, quarterly performance check‑ins, performance appraisals, weekly OPEX SOCs, managers’ certifications, and the discipline process.
- Develop Wash Associates by completing orientation and training checklists and providing ongoing coaching and training, including at least one SOC each week. Document and deliver discipline as needed and lead termination proceedings. Manage staffing through hiring survey, scheduling, and timecard completion.
- Maximize location profitability by increasing profits, minimizing expenses, and maintaining proper records and inventories. Work with the Area Director to develop budgets and goals.
- Ensure operational excellence by completing OPEX checklists thoroughly and timely, completing all OEE follow‑ups, and maintaining staffing within guidelines.
- Create a safety‑conscious culture by training and promoting vehicle and personal safety, following the discipline process for safety violations, and working with the Safety Manager on safety meetings, audits, and OSHA reporting.
- Attend operations meetings and provide detailed notes when absent.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
- Must average 40 hours per week (unless otherwise approved).
- Must work at least five days each week, including every other weekend (unless otherwise approved).
- Must be able to close at least one night each week.
- Must be able to open at least one morning each week.
- Work a full schedule the week leading up to Christmas, including December 24th.
- Ability to transfer between stores within the market and work at all locations in the assigned region.
Requires verbal and written communication, hearing at conversational level, and visual depth perception. Employees must stand or walk continuously, occasionally sit, stoop, reach, twist, and perform repetitive hand movements. May lift up to 50 lbs for up to 3 feet, pull 10 lbs up to 10 feet, carry up to 50 lbs for 10 feet, and frequently bend, kneel, or balance.
Rarely required to climb stairs or ladders.
The work environment includes occasional use of machinery with moving parts, outdoor temperatures ranging from 0 to 100°F, solo work, and frequent handling of chemicals with required eye or hearing protection.
