Packaging Process Engineer — Cincinnati, OH
Join The Boston Beer Company as a Packaging Process Engineer to drive continuous improvements in manufacturing and packaging at our Cincinnati brewery.
Responsibilities- Recommend and implement manufacturing equipment and process designs that are efficient, cost‑effective, safe, and reliable.
- Use Lean/6
Sigma and DMAIC to assess current equipment and process layouts, and recommend changes to create the most efficient and productive workspace. - Coach and engage operators, leads, supervisors, process leaders, and line leaders with Lean tools (PDCA, CIL, 5 Whys, etc.) to increase efficiency and eliminate minor stops.
- Establish a feedback loop from coworkers by soliciting and acting on their input to drive equipment and process improvements.
- Apply test design and data analysis to control production variables and troubleshoot production problems.
- Formalize findings in Standard Operating Procedures and One‑Point Lessons.
- Help digitalize the shop floor and reduce change‑over time.
- Lead packaging asset replacement and upgrade projects and optimize bottling/canning and packaging systems.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Experience in a manufacturing or CPG environment or engineering background (mechanical or electrical).
- Demonstrated application of Lean/TPM and experience driving continuous improvement projects.
- Strong PLC knowledge is desired.
- Pass a pre‑employment physical exam; certain roles may require respirator fit testing.
- Lift to 50 lbs and repeatedly, stand for up to 11 hours a day, walk on concrete, metal, and grated surfaces.
- Perform repetitive crouching, stepping over, crawling under, bending, twisting, climbing, and reaching above heads and shoulders.
- Work from heights or on elevated platforms, use assigned PPE (safety shoes, gloves, facemask, hearing protection, hard hat).
