The Offset Wet Glue Operator is responsible for the supervision and coordination of activities of the pressroom in producing quality reproductions and to perform highly-skilled production involving operation of various types of offset presses and related equipment. • Overall responsibility of the operation of the press. Heidelberg CD
• Supervision of the press helper to assign duties such as: cleaning, paper levels, ink levels and additional duties.
• Makes ready and operates sheet-fed offset printing press to print single and multicolor copy from lithographic plates.
• Measures the plate thickness and inserts packing sheets on plate cylinder to build up plate to printing height and installs and locks plate into position, using handtools, to achieve pressure required for printing.
• Measures the paper thickness and adjusts space between blanket and impression cylinders according to thickness of paper stock.
• Starts press, examines printed copy for ink density, position on paper, and registration, and makes adjustments to press throughout production run to maintain specific registration and color density.
• Removes and cleans plate and cylinders.
• Monitors the production during run quality, maintaining all required samples.
• Must work well with others in a team environment.
• Recording of time and production for job costing.
• Ability to meet daily production standards.
• Performs all required preventative maintenance in accordance to production schedule.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area and press.
