Overview
Work with skilled supervision to perform the following:
- Setup, programming, and operation on CNC horizontal/vertical lathes and mills
- Set up and run fixtures and parts on manual lathes and/or VTLs.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, technical work instructions, specifications, and engine manuals in order to determine the machining sequences and operations to be performed
- Ability to set up a component for machining, including indicating, tramming, and restraining the work piece.
- Has a solid understanding of machining parameters for different alloy types and can interpret and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Program, edit, and understand both conversational and G-Code programming on mills and lathes, including reference points, tool setting, offsets, and compensation
- Ability to use a variety of precision measurement equipment, such as calipers, gages, and micrometers to obtain dimensions down to +/- 0.0002”
- Continually updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and training programs.
- Participate in continuous improvement of the production cell and site.
- Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
- Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.
- Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
- Carries out other duties as assigned.
- High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and precision.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and processes.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.
- Strong mathematical aptitude.
- Working knowledge of related company instructions, company processes, reworks process instructions, original equipment manufacturer manuals and MSDS labels.
- Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program, or equivalent.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted).
- Regularly required to stand for prolonged periods.
- Experience using Mastercam preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident
