Responsibilities

As a Calibration Technician with The Modal Shop, you will perform a variety of basic tests on manufactured products by following written procedures and utilizing basic electrical and mechanical test equipment such as meters, shakers, test fixtures, and calibration stations. You will calibrate accelerometers, microphones, sensors and equipment, assemble setup, and document accurate calibration results to ensure compliance with ISO 17025, ISO 16063, ANSI Z540, and A2LA accreditation.

You will support continuous improvement of the Modal Shop Quality System (MSQS).

Additional Duties
  • Follow all Modal Shop procedures and forms in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 17025 and other applicable standards.
  • Perform calibrations on sensors and equipment using delegated stations and resources.
  • Compare test results with manufacturer specifications to verify accuracy; report out‑of‑specification results.
  • Follow electro‑static discharge (ESD) protocol.
  • Carry out calibration and related tasks efficiently and accurately, per written procedures.
  • Verify that all tested or calibrated products meet specifications.
  • Monitor and log environmental conditions during calibrations.
  • Ensure calibration equipment is within calibration cycle; notify team of upcoming expirations.
  • Communicate with the team regarding any equipment problems.
  • Observe all safety precautions when operating test equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment.
  • Retrieve equipment and parts from inventory for customer orders or calibration services.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills and good communication skills; in‑house training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior metrology testing lab experience is preferred.

Physical Demands (U.S. only)

The employee is continuously required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; lift and carry up to 10 lbs and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Must work in an indoor production environment with low to moderate noise level.

International Traffic in Arms Regulations

This position requires access to “controlled technology” and technical data as defined by the Export Administration Regulations and International Traffic in Arms Regulations. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work.
