Creative Director

Orchard Digital Marketing is hiring a Creative Director - Copy in a hybrid role in Cincinnati, OH to lead end-to-end copy and messaging that supports brand voice and business goals.

• Define, develop, and maintain the creative vision, brand voice, and messaging architecture for projects and brands.
• Lead the full creative process from brainstorm through execution to uphold quality while meeting timelines and budgets.
• Grow and develop the copy team using a goal-oriented approach and a learning mindset; identify the right freelance writing resources when needed.
• Partner with the Design Creative Director to collaborate with clients, understand needs, and ensure copy aligns with brand and communication objectives.
• Work with Account, Analytics, Web, and Media teams to build integrated concepts across the customer journey where words and visuals work together.
• Write, edit, and elevate headlines, scripts, long-form content, website and UX copy, email, social, and paid media with clarity, persuasion, and measurable performance in mind.
• Translate complex, technical, or regulated subject matter into clear, compelling, compliant messaging.
• Maintain high quality standards throughout the creative workflow.
• Use data, testing, and performance insights to refine messaging and optimize creative over time.
• Generate new ideas and stay current on trends, platforms, and technologies, including uses of AI in content creation; apply understanding of brand development, SEO, multichannel marketing, and best practices.
• Present concepts to clients and stakeholders, clearly communicating ideas and justifying recommendations.
• Contribute to RFP development and support the pitch team for new business by shaping creative strategy and the big idea, then presenting the work.
• Set expectations for freelance writers and content partners, covering project needs, timing, budget, and scope; assist with acquiring cost estimates when required.
• Help develop processes and process improvements for Orchard and its clients.

• BA/BS in a related field (copywriting, English, journalism, communications, advertising, etc.) or equivalent experience.
• 10–12 years of copywriting experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating copywriting and content development across digital and traditional platforms.
• 3–5 years of experience managing creative teams in an agency setting.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with strong control of tone, voice, and storytelling.
• Plus: experience writing for complex or regulated categories such as healthcare, financial services, or B2B technology.
• Working knowledge of SEO, UX writing, and conversion-focused content best practices.
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office and collaboration tools; familiarity with generative AI writing tools is a plus.
