Device Clinical Registered Nurse - Heart Institute Job Description

Job Overview: The EP Device Clinic Registered Nurse position independently performs device interrogation, programming, and remote transmission under the supervision of Tri Health Heart Institute Physicians. Provides education to patients regarding their device, home monitor, and triages patient calls with device related issues.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Certified Breast Care Nurse (ONCC) within one year of hire (for Breast Center positions)
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)
  • Registered Nurse
  • Current Ohio licensure
  • Knowledge of the specialty or population served
  • Ability to work effectively on a multi‑disciplinary team
  • 1–2 years experience in Nursing
Job Responsibilities
  • Plan care for participants and family based on assessment, standards of care, and optimal outcomes. Initiate and individualize appropriate patient care guidelines. Maintain current plan of care by updating as needed. Educate patients with resources pertaining to device function, disease process, and treatment plans. Assess patient calls to facilitate optimal care.
  • Evaluate device functions in the office and remotely. Assess, implement, and communicate device adjustments per patient needs and physician orders.
  • Assess new implant site for signs and symptoms of infection.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills in daily care of the patients including accurately receiving, interpreting, and executing physician orders.
  • Serve as a role model for behavior, decorum, and interpersonal relationships with the staff and collegial, professional relationships with the physicians. Possess a high degree of initiative and ingenuity. Maximize teamwork and provide a positive environment.
  • Serve as a resource for the clinic staff for any device clinic questions. Provide education for staff as necessary.
  • Demonstrate organization’s responsibilities: identify areas for self‑improvement, maintain current knowledge in area of practice, demonstrate knowledge of organizational and practice changes.
