Position Overview
Job Title: Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (RN ED)
Employer: Medasource Healthcare (Bon Secours Mercy Health)
Location: Facility within 50 miles of the employment address; local residency required.
- Deliver direct patient care in a high‑intensity, fast‑paced Emergency Department environment.
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment, develop and implement nursing plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
- Administer medications safely and coordinate care across hospital departments.
- Serve as a point of contact for patients and families, acting as a patient‑safety advocate and participating in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Manage critical care interventions such as drip therapy, advanced airway management, and critical care monitoring.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, pharmacists, therapists, ED technicians, and rescue technicians) to provide coordinated, comprehensive care.
- Adhere to safety and infection‑control protocols, including universal precautions and use of personal protective equipment.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment or covered by a compact (required).
- Minimum 2 years of registered nursing experience, 3+ preferred.
- Recent Emergency Department or critical‑care experience preferred.
- Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent (preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – required (must be obtained prior to direct patient care).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – preferred.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – preferred.
- Central Venous Access (CEN) – preferred.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) – preferred.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – preferred.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – preferred.
- EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training – preferred.
Mid‑shift coverage: 10:00 A–10:00 P, 11:00 A–11:00 P, 1:00 P–1:00 A.
Every third weekend and holiday rotation required. No on‑call at this time.
