Responsibilities- Responsible for patient flow and acts as a resource to the multiple units in the hospital. Requires strong organizational skills, critical thinking, and excellent communication.
- Coordinates daily activities of the nursing department, schedules staff in conjunction with established staff‑to‑patient ratios and budgetary guidelines, attends management meetings, conducts department meetings to communicate information to staff.
- Communicates with vendors to stay current with latest technological advances and service needs, ensures department equipment is maintained in a safe and orderly condition, maintains positive relationships with medical staff for continuous improvement of satisfaction levels, actively promotes the service line in accordance with strategic initiatives, ensures regulatory compliance, and maintains competency in bedside care.
- Provides leadership to staff in a collaborative environment that offers job satisfaction, education, empowerment, recognition, and stimulates innovative thinking; collaborates with the Manager/Director to recruit, hire, orient, and train new employees; conducts annual and ongoing appraisal of employee performance; communicates job standards and expectations; leads regular meetings with employees and fosters an environment for effective communication.
- Under the supervision of the department director and manager, collaborates with department and site leadership in preparing the annual operating and capital budgets, manages services in accordance with approved budgetary guidelines, and manages inventory of equipment and supplies to meet established par levels.
- Must have endoscopy experience.
- BSN required.
- BLS and ACLS required.
- Critical care experience required.
- Two years of clinical nursing experience preferred; one year of previous charge nurse or shift lead experience preferred.
