The Progressive Care (Step down) Registered Nurse position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients. The RN serves as the service line between Med‑Surg and ICU units, acting as a point of contact for care coordination throughout the hospital departments and serving as a patient safety advocate.

• Utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status
• Act as the service line between Med‑Surg and ICU units
• Determine the priority of the patient’s problems and needs
• Develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes
• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyze assessment data, create a plan of care, implement treatment, and evaluate treatment effectiveness
• Serve as point of contact for patients’ care coordination throughout hospital departments
• Act as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department
• Administer medications safely in accordance with state practice and organizational policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred, not required)

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred at hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care; ACLS required within 6 months of hire)

• 1 year of RN experience (required)
• 6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred)
