Cincinnati Children’s Heart Institute is nationally recognized for excellence in pediatric cardiac care. We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, flexible and patient-focused to support our General Cardiology Satellite and Outreach Clinics, helping bring high‑quality cardiac care closer to home for children and families. This role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys variety, collaboration, and working directly with patients and families across multiple clinic locations.
Position Overview- FTE: 0.6 (24 hours per week)

Three days per week - Travel:
Required to Cincinnati Children’s satellite and outreach locations - Paid travel time and mileage reimbursement provided for outreach locations
- Provide nursing support for general cardiology outpatient clinics at satellite and outreach locations
- Assist cardiologists and advanced practice providers during clinic visits
- Perform patient assessments, obtain histories, and support clinical workflows
- Provide patient and family education related to cardiac diagnoses, testing, and care plans
- Coordinate care, referrals, and follow‑up across Heart Institute services
- Serve as a consistent, reassuring presence for patients and families receiving care outside the main campus
- Collaborate closely with physicians, APPs, clinic staff, and central Heart Institute teams
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation
- Active Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license, and willingness to obtain multistate license
- Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN preferred)
- Previous cardiology, pediatric, or outpatient nursing experience preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and adaptability skills
- Comfort working independently while maintaining strong team connections

Job Responsibilities- Compliance - Patient Services Staff – Sustain a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Support leadership in Compliance efforts to meet and sustain the regulatory compliance efforts of the department and hospital. Be mindful and judicious in monitoring safety and departmental policies and procedures. Ensure all individual certifications and Safety College requirements are fulfilled in a timely basis. Work with department managers, nurse council and magnet representatives to identify and share safety best practices.
Be mindful of CCHMC processes and compliance with CMS standards and freely communicate safety and compliance concerns to leadership team members. - Interprofessional Practice – Demonstrates consistent integration of the Interprofessional Practice Model (IPM) in all aspects of practice.
- Clinical inquiry & performance review to improve practice – Follows standards and guidelines; implements clinical changes and research‑based practices developed by others; recognizes the need for further learning to improve patient care; recognizes routine or obvious changing patient situation (e.g., deterioration, crisis); in unusual care situations, seeks help when needed to identify patient problem. Uses self‑appraisal performance review and peer review, including annual goal setting, for assurance of competence and professional development to promote safe and ethical practice using the nursing process.
