The Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The RN works collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to deliver safe, culturally sensitive, and age-appropriate care.
The 5S General Surgery unit is a fast-paced, 39-bed unit with private rooms, primarily caring for patients undergoing general surgery and ENT procedures, as well as medical overflow patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patient conditions and develop individualized care plans.
- Implement and evaluate nursing interventions.
- Provide age-appropriate and culturally sensitive patient care and education.
- Monitor patient progress and respond to changes in clinical condition.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and strict confidentiality.
- Follow hospital policies, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics, and the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
- Adapt to changes in clinical priorities and work effectively in a diverse environment.
- Demonstrate continued professional development and clinical competency.
- Diploma in Nursing.
- Valid Ohio RN license or Compact RN license.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualification:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Medical-surgical nursing knowledge and clinical competency.
- Strong patient assessment and care-planning skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork.
- Patient and family education.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Adaptability and willingness to float to other units as required.
