Overview
Position Summary – This role involves pharmacy operations including prescription fulfillment, patient service, merchandising, and adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
What you'll do- Process member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware and using appropriate procedures for different payment types and items sold.
- Maintain merchandise presentation in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating merchandise and supplies from distribution centers and suppliers; remove damaged or out-of-date goods; set up, clean, and organize product displays; sign and price merchandise; and secure fragile and high-shrink merchandise.
- Maintain the Pharmacy area in accordance with company policies by properly handling claims and returns, utilizing equipment to perform merchandising tasks (pricing, creating signs, verifying on-hand merchandise), arranging and organizing supplies, identifying shrink and damages, ensuring a safe work environment, and completing required paperwork and logs.
- Monitor and resolve problems in the prescription fulfillment process by processing information for third-party insurance claims, rescanning illegible images, alerting patients to stock issues, partial fills, and required physician authorizations on refills, and identifying situations needing pharmacist action.
- Promote and maintain the Pharmacy's professional reputation and provide patients/members with pharmacy products and services in accordance with laws and corporate policies by assisting the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process, processing third-party insurance claims/rejections, assisting patients with prescription orders, and completing required documentation.
- Provide patient/member service in the Pharmacy area by acknowledging members, identifying needs, initiating prescription fulfillment at the pharmacy drop-off window, creating prescription orders, promoting products/services, resolving issues, assisting with purchases, locating over-the-counter merchandise, and maintaining a safe shopping environment.
- Enter prescription data into pharmacy software by reading prescriptions and translating information into system codes, transcribing data (date, drug, strength, directions, sig, refills, physician information, DEA number), and creating/modifying patient records.
- Fill prescriptions by retrieving orders, counting, pouring, measuring, or weighing medications; mixing or reconstituting as needed; labeling containers; and operating scanning or dispensing equipment to ensure accuracy.
- Provide member assistance during prescription pickup by verifying and entering patient information into the system, marking prescriptions for pickup, gathering signatures as applicable under HIPAA and third-party payor requirements, and using the system to log sales of restricted items.
- Complete work assignments by prioritizing with managers and coworkers, identifying deadlines, communicating progress, and addressing improvement opportunities while adapting to change and feedback.
