Hoxworth Blood Center (HBC), University of Cincinnati, was founded in 1938 and serves more than 30 hospitals in 18 counties in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana. Annually, Hoxworth collects more than 100,000 units of blood from local donors to help save the lives of patients in area hospitals. HBC is located within the College of Medicine and is the only regional blood center owned and operated by a university in the United States.
The Hoxworth Division of Research is recruiting for a full‑time (100 % FTE) Post‑Doctoral Fellow position in the laboratory of Dr. Xuefeng Wang at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
The laboratory focuses on cell mechanobiology and enzymology with an emphasis on the biomechanical behavior of blood cells, immune cells, and cancer cells. Researchers use cutting‑edge biosensors and microfluidics to study cellular forces during processes such as cell adhesion, platelet aggregation, and macrophage‑mediated phagocytosis. The successful candidate will develop new methods or explore biomedical applications in this realm of mechanobiology.
Essential Functions- Conduct research experiments within the defined scope and methodology.
- Gather and analyze data and generate ideas that advance current research.
- Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts, and presentations of research results.
- Assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may assist in grant writing.
- Keep informed of developments in the field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and order supplies as needed.
- Teach techniques, train, and mentor junior research staff.
- Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
- Seek career and research advice from the faculty supervisor and other faculty members.

PhD in biology, biomedicine, biochemistry, biophysics, bioengineering, or related field.
Required Experience- In‑depth knowledge of the specialized field, process, or discipline.
- May require experience with specialized software programs.
- Experience in cell culture, common cell biology assays, fluorescence microscopy and image analysis.
- Good communication and writing skills.
- Prior experience in studies of platelets, neutrophils or macrophages.
- Prior experience in biosensor/microfluidics development.
