The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology Oncology is recruiting for a Research Assistant to support physician/scientist-led translational research focused on acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The individual will work in a dynamic academic research environment with grad students, research assistants, and post-doctoral researchers with a collaborative focus harnessing functional genomics, leukemic stem cell modeling, and resistance profiling to inform therapeutic strategies against AML and other amyloid neoplasms.
Essential Functions
* Perform sterilized cell culture, CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, colony assays, PCR, immunoblotting, and flow cytometry for preclinical AML studies.
* Assist in murine model experiments, including colony maintenance, drug dosing via oral gavage/IP injection, blood sampling, necropsy, and processing of tissues.
* Operate GFP reporter assays and analyze downstream signaling via imaging or molecular readouts.
* Manage experimental data using Lab Archives or similar Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN), conduct basic statistical and graphical analysis, and help prepare figures for publications or grant proposals.
* Assist in organizing lab inventory, prepare reagents, and ensure lab compliance with safety protocols.
Required Education
* Bachelor's Degree.
* Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience
Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.
Additional Qualifications Considered
* One (1) to four (4) years in a biomedical research setting with demonstrated proficiency in molecular biology techniques with some animal handling.
* Familiarity with CRISPR gene editing, high-throughput sequencing, resistance modeling, or reporter systems is a strong plus.
