School Safety Security Officer (Must have experience, Roselawn area)
The Unarmed School Officer will serve as a security enforcement officer, educator, and mentor within the assigned school environment. The Unarmed School Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the school’s students, staff, and overall property, while fostering positive relationships and promoting a safe and supportive learning environment.
Position Requirements- Greet students, visitors, and staff warmly and professionally. Provide information, directions, and assistance as needed.
- Work closely with school administration, teachers, counselors, and local law enforcement to address safety and security concerns.
- Control entrances and movement of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
- Monitor and control access to the school building. Verify identification and manage visitor logs when and where needed.
- Operate and monitor surveillance equipment to ensure the security of the premises.
- Respond to alarms and incidents, assess the situation, and take appropriate action. Coordinate with emergency services if necessary.
- Conduct regular patrols of the building and surrounding areas to ensure all safety protocols are being followed.
- Document and report all incidents, suspicious activities, and any security-related concerns.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with students, staff, and management regarding security matters.
- Manage conflicts and disturbances in a calm and professional manner.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development related to security and school-related functions and processes.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor for students - building relationships and providing guidance and support.
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred. Experience in a school setting is a plus.
- Strong observational and problem‑solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- First Aid and CPR certification is desirable.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Ability to work flexible hours, potentially including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to see, hear, speak, and write clearly to communicate with employees and/or other customers.
- Pushing/pulling/carrying and lifting may include up to 50 lbs.; stair climbing, walking and, at times, standing.
- Normal vision or corrected by use of glasses and/or contacts for normal reading and viewing abilities.
