Summary of Duties
General Construction Carpenters report to the Superintendent and provide support throughout a construction project. The role requires flexibility, teamwork, and working in public settings. We are hiring General Construction Carpenters at levels 1, 2, and 3 in Cincinnati and Lexington. Below are the required knowledge, skills, and qualifications for each level.
General Construction Carpenter 1- Knowledge of general contracting
- Knowledge of power tools
- Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices on a construction site
- Knowledge of general trade work
- Properly align walls
- Visualize wall layouts
- Perform exterior/interior wall blocking
- Be comfortable working in public settings
- Operate various power tools safely
- Install and troubleshoot doors/frames and hardware
- Follow detailed installation instructions for finished products
- Install accessories
- Know doors/frames and hardware
- Understand architectural construction, mainly in commercial construction
- Know fasteners and determine elevations from drawings
- Assist with safety barricades
- Assist with framing
- Can complete stair forming/layout of stairs
- Can lay out and complete stud framing (wood and metal)
- Can read blueprints and understand details
- Can complete pre‑layout of walls
- Can install frames
- Can install safety barricades
- Can work in finished environments
- Visualize wall layouts and perform proper steps to ensure accurate dimensions
- Meet daily with the crew to maintain a safe working environment
- Properly rig loads with cables or strapping for crane or forklift material handling
- Operate layout equipment
- Manage crews
- Conduct trainings
- Know architectural construction, commonly within the commercial construction field
- Install casework, trim, access panels, window coverings, and miscellaneous metals
- Read blueprints and scale for proper layouts
- Assist the superintendent with daily planning, scheduling, safety, JSA's, and inventory
Qualifications for All General Construction Carpenters
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a drug screening
- Ability to work irregular hours including weekends as needed
- Ability to work in harsh weather conditions for long periods of time
- Physical endurance for long periods without getting winded or out of breath
- Use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously without fatigue
- Willingness to commute within a 125-mile radius of Cincinnati
- COVID vaccinations may be required on some job sites
