POSITION SUMMARY:The Investigative Services Supervisor serves in the Pretrial & Investigative Services Department and reports to the Director of Pretrial & Investigative Services.
The Investigative Services Supervisor is responsible for providing support and assistance in management and coordination of Investigative Services operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The essential duties and responsibilities of the position are as follows:
- Oversees daily operation of the Investigative Services Section.
- Serves as liaison between judges and attorneys.
- Addresses and resolves issues regarding matters of investigative reports.
- Supervises staff in performance of job duties and responsibilities; prioritizes, delegates, and reviews work of assigned staff; ensures compliance with court policies, mandates, standards, and requirements.
- Monitors and approves leave while ensuring office coverage needs are met; completes probationary and annual performance evaluations of staff; maintains responsibility for disciplinary actions of staff.
- Provides input into the development of department policies and procedures.
- Monitors outcomes, workloads, and trends through analysis of data and statistics; prepares reports and provides recommendations to improve operations and services to the court.
- Participates in interviews and selection of job applicants; assists in training and orientation of new staff members.
- Acts on behalf of the Director of Pretrial & Investigative Services as required.
- Obtain and maintain Practitioner Certification through the Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS).
- Participates in training opportunities, court activities, projects, and committees as requested or required.
- Completes other duties and responsibilities as required.
SKILLS:
- Knowledge of: criminal justice system; chemical dependency; social work;
Ohio Revised Code as it pertains to probation functions; presentence investigation; victim impact statement; community social service agencies and resources; universal precautions for control of blood-borne pathogens; community control policies and procedures. - Ability to: establish rapport with offenders/defendants of various social and economic backgrounds; perform under stress; work with resistant clients; establish caseload priorities; physically make an arrest; participate in a physical examination that includes an agility evaluation.
- Skill in: organization; interviewing; completing reports; proper grammar and sentence structure, operation of computer; analyzing data and preparing behavior modification programs; listening.

and represent the court with honesty and integrity.
