P&C IT Services provides professional services to help our business units and corporate functions use technology to create, manage, and optimize information and business processes. IT Services can include a wide range of activities such as: software development, data management, Cloud services, IT security, network security, technical support, establishing and overseeing access rights, procuring and maintaining equipment or software, managing the infrastructure, and defining security procedures, The overall goal of IT Services is to provide technology solutions that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and give our company a competitive advantage over our competitors.

Our IT Risk Solutions group is looking for a Technical Lead to join their team and work a hybrid schedule out of the Cincinnati office.

This role would be responsible for designing and developing one of Risk Solutions strategic platforms as well as mentoring and coaching others to deliver quality, incremental value that aligns with both enterprise standards and business needs.

Depending upon experience and qualifications , this role may be a Senior Application Engineer II , Application Engineering Specialist or Application Architect.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders on requirements, design, standards, and architecture of applications and integrated solutions that enhance data flow and system interoperability.
  • Develops comprehensive technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements.
  • Responsible for performing, coordinating and leading the day-to-day development activities of employees, including planning for Sprints.
  • Proven experience leading the design, programming, building and deployment of software applications and systems that support various business and insurance processes.
  • Drives the implementation of new features and functionalities based on business requirements, enhancing the overall user experience.
  • Ensures seamless integration of new applications with existing systems, minimizing disruptions to business operations.
  • Performs complex maintenance and problem resolution on software application.
  • Monitors and optimizes application performance, identifying and resolving any issues that may impact system efficiency. Conducts regular performance assessments and implements improvements to ensure applications run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Provides technical support to end-users and team members, addressing and resolving application‑related issues in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to standards for software development with emphasis on test‑driven development and quality of software.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvements and is responsible for implementing solutions that enhance overall system performance.
  • Participates in code reviews and status meetings.
  • Develops time estimates for project deliverables.
  • Responsible for performance and coaching of staff and has a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management.
Qualifications – Required
  • 10+ years’ experience with software development of Java or .NET applications, cloud native development, object-oriented concepts, and SQL.
  • 10+ years’ experience with RDMS such as Oracle or SQL Server and integrations of the database with Java or .NET applications.
  • Experience with web service/API development (REST), and mocking APIs.
