FUNCTIONAL PERFORMANCE TRAINER - $5,000 SIGN ON BONUS
We are seeking a certified Athletic Trainer or Physical Therapist (ATC/PT) to join our Bridge Program. The Functional Performance Trainer will help patients transition from injury to full function, delivering individualized strength, mobility, and conditioning programs in clinic and community settings.
Position SummaryThe Functional Performance Trainer works closely with surgeons, physicians, athletic training staff, and physical therapists to return patients to full function or sport. Responsibilities include designing safe exercise plans, providing motivational coaching, assessing patient progress, and managing program logistics.
Position Responsibilities / Standards- Design and implement strength training, mobility, injury prevention/reduction, and conditioning programs based on research‑driven practices.
- Cooperate with the surgeon, sports medicine physician, athletic training staff, and physical therapy team to return the patient to full function or sport.
- Administer safe and effective exercise program design and prescription for patients aiming to improve function.
- Provide detailed analysis and assessments to determine current status and develop appropriate programs.
- Enhance compliance and performance through strong motivational communication.
- Facilitate collaborative relationships among sport coaches and the sports medicine team.
- Complete required training and educational courses as authorized.
- Process Bridge Program fees accurately and communicate with management on payment issues.
- Maintain braces, prostheses, bandages, and other assistive devices.
- Participate in clerical and reception activities.
- Maintain supplies and equipment, suggesting improvements when needed.
- Monitor environment conditions within the PT service.
- Follow safety procedures when using heat, cold, light, water, sound, or massage.
- Attend department, clinic, or company meetings as required.
- Use sound judgment in questioning findings or concerns.
- Work cooperatively and positively with staff.
- Respond flexibly to changing situations and reprioritize work as needed.
- Attend required annual in‑service programs.
- Understand and follow all company policies and procedures.
- Adhere to facility safety requirements and alert supervisors to unsafe situations.
- Must hold at least one of the following certifications:
- ATC
- PT
- CSCS from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
- SCCC from the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA)
- USA Weightlifting (USAW) Level 1 or Sports Performance Coach
- Strong knowledge and teaching skills in anatomy, biomechanics, injury recovery, and strength training techniques.
- Strong motivational abilities.
- Evidence of positive patient interaction across all ages and backgrounds.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Current CPR, AED, and first‑aid certifications.
- Knowledge of quality rehabilitative care principles.
- Motivation to expand professional knowledge.
- Emotional stability for professional judgment and teamwork.
The position requires frequent speaking, hearing, visual acuity, and the ability to read/process information. Candidates must stand, sit, walk, reach, handle objects, climb, pull, push, squat and/or kneel. Demonstrating exercises without limitations is necessary. Maximum unassisted lift: 50 lbs. Average lift: 25‑50 lbs.
