Assistant Swim Coach position at YMCA of Greater Cincinnati.
We are looking for an Assistant Swim Coach to join the staff of the Tiger shark Swim Team at Gamble-Nippert YMCA. Do you love to swim and want to help others reach their goals? If you have the ability to inspire confidence and coach young swimmers, this is the perfect role. You will provide leadership, instruction, and motivation for swimmers while building relationships with members, parents, and other staff.
Starting pay: $13/hour

- Assist the head swim team coach with instructing students in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Organize and direct individual and small‑group practice activities and exercises as directed by the head swim team coach.
- Assess swimmer skills, monitor students during competition and practice, and inform the head swim team coach of their athletic performance.
- Assist in determining game strategy.
- Supervise athletes during practices and competition.
- Follow established procedures in the event of an injury.
- Model sports‑like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct toward members, participants, parents, and spectators.
- Maintain the equipment room in orderly condition and assume responsibility for its security.
- Distribute equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the head swim team coach.
- Assist the head coach with submitting a list of award winners at the end of the season.
- Perform support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records.
- Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. Motivate and develop swimmers, parents, and volunteers.
- Demonstrate appropriate technical knowledge, possess efficient time‑management skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and be goal oriented.
- Develop meet rosters for dual meets, invitational, and higher‑level competitions.
- Recruit and retain swimmers.
- Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid/AED/Oxygen.
- Current YMCA Lifeguard Certification and YMCA Swimming Coach Certification. Child Protection Training must be completed.
- Thorough knowledge of skills and stroke mechanics.
- Previous competitive swimming and age‑group coaching experience helpful.
- Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills required.
