Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire Girls Flag Football Program.
  • Have the knowledge and experience needed to implement this program.
  • Be knowledgeable about the game, particularly game management and rules.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in offensive and defensive skills, including passing, receiving, punting, kickoff, throwing, and catching.
  • Develop, monitor, supervise, and train young women to play competitive Flag Football.
  • Develop and execute an effective training program.
  • Motivate and mentor young women on and off the field.
  • Instruct and guide student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for individual and team success.
  • Instruct and guide student-athletes to foster the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
  • Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and skills development.
  • Manage game strategies and proper game day procedures.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
  • Cooperate, in a timely manner, with the School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department regarding information requests as needed.
  • Meet all requirements set forth by the District Board of Education, The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to the mandated Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit.
  • Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
  • Follow the District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
  • Model the behavior expected of student-athletes, including timeliness to practices and games, positivity, respect, and constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
  • Maintain suitable sideline conduct with appropriate language at all times.
  • Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for coaching improvement.
  • Be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendents of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, ODE, and OHSAA.
  • Schedule and complete a full season of contests including State Tournament Games.
  • Provide all applicable in-season training rules and any applicable out-of-season conduct guidelines to student-athletes prior to the start of the season; follow appropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
  • Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
  • Participate in school events (e.g., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings).
  • Ensure that the team is well-prepared for opponents.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
Skills / Qualifications
  • Fundraising experience
  • Must be passionate and dedicated to inspire student-athletes.
  • Previous flag football experience required.
  • Have the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
  • Serve as a positive role model.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills associated with the sport.
Training / Certifications
  • Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
  • Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the High School and/or College level is preferred.
  • Provide satisfactory results of County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check.
  • Possess an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
  • Provide proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification.
