Compensation- DYS Teachers can earn from $66,726 - $113,401 depending on education and experience (includes additional 20% supplement)
- Starting pay $66,726
- Full salary range $67,000 - $113,000
- 20% Temporary Supplement
- Small class sizes (6-8 students)
- Students average 16-18 years old
- Comprehensive paid training will be provided to the selected candidate
- Intersession leave – 40 days off per year; 186 student days

No study hall/lunch supervisory responsibilities
- Assess educational needs of youth: develop and implement lesson plans to address those needs including individualized assignments and training
- Provide instruction with individual assistance
- Counsel students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems
- Organize and/or monitor extracurricular activities if assigned
- Teacher 1 must have bachelor’s degree or less;
Teacher 2 must have a bachelor’s degree & 20 additional quarter hrs. but less than master’s degree;
Teacher 3 must have master’s degree;
Teacher 4 must have master’s degree & 30 hrs. of post‑graduate study - Applicant must successfully obtain Teacher Certificate or License prior to employment

DYS is the juvenile corrections system for the state of Ohio. DYS is statutorily mandated to confine felony offenders, ages 10-21, who have been adjudicated and committed by one of Ohio's 88 county juvenile courts. During their stay with DYS, youth are engaged in programming that is designed to address their criminological and behavioral needs. DYS reaches thousands of youth in facilities and those on parole.
