Endoscopy Staff Nurse

This role is offered on a permanent basis, part‑time 24 hours per week. The Registered Nurse will support the efficient running of the Endoscopy Department, enabling patients to receive care closer to home from visiting Endoscopists, including Nurse Endoscopists.

• Deliver safe and effective patient‑centred care to service users, families and carers.
• Communicate clinical care requirements effectively and document patients’ records accurately in line with the Trust’s policy.
• Lead the department in the absence of a Senior Sister, ensuring safe staffing levels and providing solutions to staffing problems.
• Participate in Endoscopy lists covering various roles when competent and conduct admissions, nurse consent and cannulation.
• Administer medications as prescribed by consultants or nurse endoscopists.
• Act as a Link worker for a specific role (e.g., Basic Life Support, Infection Control, Fire) and support HCA training.
• Conduct clinical audits to identify and improve patient safety and care and carry out patient satisfaction surveys.
• Assist endoscopists during procedures, including taking biopsies and removing simple polyps when competent.
• Support appraisal and development of newly qualified staff, non‑qualified staff and junior staff including mentorship and mentorship of students.
• Develop knowledge and expertise on People Management and Human Resources policies, budgetary constraints and controls.
• Maintain and inspect all goods and equipment, ensuring appropriate stock levels and safety.
• Review and improve processes and policies for continuous improvement and best practice delivery.
• Carry out individual risk assessments, contribute to risk management and implement infection control policies.
• Ensure the privacy, dignity and safety of patients at all times.
• Recognise changing priorities, seek advice and maintain communication with registered nurses and other professionals.
• Report safeguarding concerns and respond to vulnerability issues appropriately.

• UK professional registration in the nursing profession.
• Experience in ambulatory care and ability to work under pressure to meet service delivery.
• Driving licence and use of a car.
• Competence in cannulation and nurse‑led consent procedures.
• Experience in mentorship of students and junior staff.
• Team working skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary environment.
• Disclosures to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) as required.
• Knowledge of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) and Order 2020.
