Job SummaryThe Field Technician III will inspect, test, and maintain high, medium, and low voltage electrical power equipment. Technicians will work with equipment such as SF6 and vacuum circuit breakers, pad‑mount transformers/GSU transformers, grounding, instrument transformers, and a variety of manually and motor‑operated switches. Technicians will implement safety policies.
Responsibilities- Lead safety briefings on the job site and identify, eliminate, or mitigate hazards.
- Perform high, medium, and low voltage testing of electrical power equipment as a crew leader.
- Utilize Human Performance Error Elimination concepts and tools.
- Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and determine optimum functionality.
- Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
- Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean equipment and components.
- Lead the safety culture and be responsible for other team members.
- Install, test, and maintain electrical apparatus.
- Understand the theory behind testing and analyze results.
- Develop and write reports.
- Able to pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
- Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
- Able to work overtime and travel out of town as needed.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with test equipment:
Power Factor, Ductor, Megger, CT ration & saturation, Hi‑Pot. - Knowledge of equipment:
Circuit Breakers, LV/MV/HV (Low Voltage, Medium Voltage, High Voltage), Transformers, Switchgear, Motors, PTs & CCVTs.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Electrical / Electronic Technology, or equivalent military experience.
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- NETA III certification.
- Industry certification programs preferred (e.g., Infrared, Corona, Oil Analysis, manufacturer certifications).
- Ability to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 70 lbs.
