Environmental Planning Analyst – Sacramento, California

Kimley-Horn's Sacramento office is seeking an Environmental Planner with 2+ years of experience to join the Environmental Planning team. This is not a remote position.

• Prepare Environmental Quality Act documents, environmental impact reports, and negative and mitigated negative declarations.
• Assist in Specific Plans, Master Plans, and other environmental or planning policy documents in support of a full range of infill and/or land development related projects.
• Perform a variety of tasks, supporting various project managers and collaborating with team members.
• Gain expertise in topics such as Sustainability, climate action planning, ENVISION, LEED, and Salmon‑Safe.
• Work on environmental clearance associated with local comprehensive plans and land use planning.
• Collaborate on infrastructure projects across industries such as transportation, transit, land planning, aviation.

• Degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Environmental Planning or related field.
• 2+ years of experience conducting environmental studies for local agencies and private entities.
• American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP) Certification preferred.
• Experience with a wide range of tasks related to environmental planning.
• Understanding of the agencies involved with the Environmental Quality Act process and the state's Land Planning Law.
• Experience with NEPA compliance is a plus.
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of GIS/Arc View.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and strong work ethic.
• Positive attitude, strong sense of urgency, and self‑initiative to meet client deadlines.
• Detail‑oriented team player capable of contributing to a positive work environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
