Position
Environmental Planning Analyst – Sacramento, California
OverviewKimley-Horn's Sacramento office is seeking an Environmental Planner with 2+ years of experience to join the Environmental Planning team. This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities- Prepare Environmental Quality Act documents, environmental impact reports, and negative and mitigated negative declarations.
- Assist in Specific Plans, Master Plans, and other environmental or planning policy documents in support of a full range of infill and/or land development related projects.
- Perform a variety of tasks, supporting various project managers and collaborating with team members.
- Gain expertise in topics such as Sustainability, climate action planning, ENVISION, LEED, and Salmon‑Safe.
- Work on environmental clearance associated with local comprehensive plans and land use planning.
- Collaborate on infrastructure projects across industries such as transportation, transit, land planning, aviation.
- Degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Environmental Planning or related field.
- 2+ years of experience conducting environmental studies for local agencies and private entities.
- American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP) Certification preferred.
- Experience with a wide range of tasks related to environmental planning.
- Understanding of the agencies involved with the Environmental Quality Act process and the state's Land Planning Law.
- Experience with NEPA compliance is a plus.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of GIS/Arc View.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong work ethic.
- Positive attitude, strong sense of urgency, and self‑initiative to meet client deadlines.
- Detail‑oriented team player capable of contributing to a positive work environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
$85,000 - $105,000
