Position: TECHNICIAN - SURVEILLANCE

Overview

The incumbent is responsible for performing technical surveillance duties to ensure state and federal gaming laws and policies and procedures are being maintained. He or she will perform surveillance of the gaming floor, parking lot, back‑of‑the‑house areas, outbuildings and shops by means of complex electronic and video equipment while promoting outstanding guest relations.

Responsibilities
  • Creates an atmosphere that induces guests to make Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain their choice for gaming entertainment; responsible for actively building and retaining guest relations and acts as a mentor to team members in order to provide superior guest service in support of Hard Rock’s KICK ASS Service.
  • Establishes and maintains training and development procedures to ensure extraordinary guest service standards are achieved.
  • Ensures that all company and departmental procedures are followed; assists various local, state and federal authorities in various activities and investigations to ensure that procedures and laws are observed.
  • Installs, operates, maintains and repairs technical investigative/surveillance equipment (e.g. telephonic intercept, video camera, video and voice transmitting, vehicle tracking, night vision systems, etc.) to obtain criminal evidence in compliance with federal, state and local laws.
  • Provides technical assistance to other agencies in undercover video and audio surveillance equipment.
  • Researches, evaluates, makes recommendations and procures or provides expertise in the procurement of technical investigative equipment.
  • Documents and maintains detailed records (e.g. service requests, location of equipment, time and parts used for repairs, etc.)
  • Schedules and/or coordinates services (e.g. repairs, installations, removal of equipment, preventative maintenance, etc.).
  • Responds to 24‑hour/day, seven‑day/week emergency callouts to perform and/or facilitate emergency equipment repairs anywhere technical investigative equipment is utilized.
  • Tests and evaluates new equipment to ensure that the equipment meets the parameters of Gaming Commission specifications.
  • Catalogs and inventories equipment.
  • Must have an outgoing personality and enjoy dealing with people and possess the ability to have fun while working.
  • Communicate effectively and demonstrate organizational skills.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, completing follow‑up as assigned.
  • Perform work regularly and predictably.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)
An EDP Pelco Certification or PCSD and/or PCST or a minimum of 2-4 years of verifiable working experience with Pelco Endura Class, IP NVR server equipment is preferred. Must be able to program new cameras and other equipment in the Pelco Endura digit matrix. Casino systems and MS applications including Word and Excel. This knowledge and these abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a high school education, or equivalent, as well as two years progressive experience in surveillance operations.

Supervisory experience preferred. 20/20 corrected vision is required.

Additional Requirements
  • Must obtain and maintain valid licenses / certifications per Federal, State and ERGC Gaming regulations.
  • Must successfully pass background check.
  • Must successfully pass drug screening.
  • Must be at least twenty‑one (21) years of age.
  • Must be able to work holidays and weekends, as well as flexible shifts and/or unusual hours.
  • Prior experience in the Gaming industry required.
  • Prior experience in Tribal Gaming strongly preferred.
Knowledge Of
  • Basic knowledge of county and state ordinances.
  • Electronic, video, and alarm functions.
  • Investigative procedures.
  • Extreme confidentiality.
  • California laws pertaining to citizens’ powers of arrest procedures.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all appropriate licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Gaming regulations.
Ability To
  • Keep informed of new products and developments.
  • Test and repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications.
