OverviewJob Purpose:
This position is responsible for performing substation testing as a test technician. As an entry level test technician, basic tasks and tests will be performed with the assistance of more experienced technicians. Maintaining safety is the top priority. The position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and occasionally near moving mechanical parts, at heights, hazardous places, and is occasionally exposed to wet and/humid conditions, temperature extremes, fumes, traffic, potential electrical shock hazards, noise pollution, and vibration.
The hourly rate for this position is between $25.00 – $32.00 per hour
. Factors that may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

- Knowledge of electrical theory and ability to communicate transformer operations.
- Perform basic tests on transformer & circuit breakers (Insulation Resistance, Contact Resistance, Core Ground, Oil Sampling, and/or Ratio tests).
- Read & understand drawings and diagrams.
- Assist with grounding – knowledge of clearance, LOTO, etc.
- Testing equipment set up.
- Leader in Safety Culture.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protection equipment (PPE).
- Participate in safety training programs and meetings.
- Ensure that all field service activities are carried out in accordance with all safety guidelines and company policies.
- High School diploma or GED. Supplemental courses in electrical maintenance are highly desired.
- Must possess a current and valid driver’s license, and have a good driving record.
- Must be able to crawl, climb, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations in high voltage substations.
- Must be able to pass a fit for duty exam.
- Must be available for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel related to high voltage substation work.
