As Head of Design & Technology
, you will provide clear direction across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with scope to extend into Key Stage
5), ensuring the curriculum reflects both academic rigour and practical application. You will play a central role in embedding high standards, driving progress, and preparing students with the skills needed for further education and future careers.

• Establishing a clear vision for DT within the academy improvement plan
• Designing a progressive, knowledge-rich curriculum spanning disciplines such as Product Design, Engineering, Food Technology, Graphics, or Resistant Materials
• Coaching and developing teaching staff to secure consistently strong classroom practice
• Maintaining exemplary health and safety standards across workshops and specialist rooms
• Overseeing departmental budgets, resource planning, and long-term development

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• A relevant degree within Design & Technology or a related technical field
• Strong secondary teaching experience within DT
• Secure knowledge of workshop safety and practical subject delivery
• A commitment to high expectations, structured routines, and student achievement
