Bus Assistant - No Exp Needed - Training Provided
National Express LTD is seeking a Bus Assistant to support student transportation. No prior experience is required; training will be provided. The position is located at 1112 First Ave, Jefferson Hills, PA 15025.
Base Pay Range$15.92/hr – $15.92/hr
Responsibilities- Assist students with boarding and alighting the bus safely.
- Provide and check seat belts, car seats, or wheelchair restraints as needed.
- Serve as a role model, maintaining a positive attitude and professional appearance.
- Monitor passengers to ensure safety regulations and student conduct rules are followed.
- Use communication and discipline techniques to manage student behavior per company policy.
- Document and report any violations or conduct concerns to the appropriate authority.
- Assist in emergency evacuations when necessary.
- Ensure students take their belongings when leaving the bus.
- Help keep the interior of the assigned vehicle clean and presentable.
- Complete all required paperwork and submit it in a timely manner.
- Attend all assigned training, safety meetings, and in‑service meetings.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years of age (19 in New York for School Bus Assistants).
- Must meet physical and medical requirements.
- Must pass all training and attend required safety meetings to remain qualified.
- High degree of attention to detail and dexterity to use restraints and secure wheelchairs.
- Ability to relate to and work well with children.
- Ability to maintain effective pupil behavior management.
- High level of professionalism and diplomacy when interacting with students, colleagues, parents, and school personnel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and assist students when necessary.
