Nurse Practitioner Behavioral Health

General Overview

Identifies and manages psychiatric problems for patients within the CRNP scope of practice. This position will work both inpatient and outpatient settings.

• Provides appropriate patient care to include recording patient psychiatric history, developing a therapeutic care plan, ordering diagnostic tests, interpreting test results, discharge planning, and providing accurate medical record documentation for patients in a psychiatric setting. (60%)
• Communicates plan of care and involves physician in clinical decision‑making of any issues that are outside CRNP knowledge base or scope of practice. (20%)
• Communicates and coordinates patient care with patient, family, community health services and inter‑disciplinary team. (10%)
• Demonstrates professional commitment through voluntary attendance at continuing education programs, independent reading and other professional activities. (10%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum

• Master's degree in Nursing and graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a specialization in the area of practice; or four to ten years’ related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• State licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (CRNP)
• Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (obtained within 2 years)
• Prescriptive Authority within 60 days of hire. Incumbents in role as of November 1, 2022 have until November 1, 2023 to obtain it.
• CPR – American Heart Association
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Preferred

• Doctorate degree Certified Nurse Practitioner (CRNP)
• Experience with psychiatric patients
