KGI’s Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program will emphasize occupation-centered practice, innovation, leadership and advocacy, cultural responsiveness, lifestyle medicine for whole-person care, research and evidence, and optimized service delivery throughout the curriculum. The adjunct faculty position will be involved in curriculum design, teaching, and research in KGI’s OTD program. The KGI OTD program offers a supportive and dynamic academic work environment with an emphasis on teamwork, innovation, and active learning.

The position is an adjunct professor of practice. An adjunct faculty member exemplifies an enthusiastic commitment to innovative teaching to further the mission and values of the Institute, OTD program, and occupational therapy profession.

Education and Experience:

Doctoral degree from a United States Department of Education recognized and accredited program. Registered and certified as an occupational therapist by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Licensed occupational therapist in the state of California. At least two years of clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential function of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions may be performed, with or without, reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

Teaching
  • Provide active, innovative, and high-caliber learning experiences in relevant areas of expertise, including neuroscience for occupational participation.
  • Serve as course coordinator or contributing faculty, as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with ACOTE standards through course design and assessment and provide KGI with necessary narratives and artifacts for accreditation purposes.
  • Provide documented expertise in areas of teaching responsibility and demonstrate knowledge of the content delivery methods.
  • Participate in faculty meetings or events as deemed necessary.
Professionalism
  • Support and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all interactions and work.
  • Demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills that support the mission, vision, and values of the OTD program, SPHS, and KGI.
  • Support professional, interprofessional, and clinical collaborations through developing collegial relationships within and outside the Institute.
  • Demonstrate commitment to working as a team through innovative problem-solving and flexibility.
