Controller – Cost & Operations Accounting
Our growing technology and telecommunications firm supports our clients’ technology and infrastructure growth initiatives. We are looking for a hands‑on Controller to lead the financial and accounting functions of the firm and affiliated entities, ensuring timely and accurate completion of duties and tasks with minimal oversight. The role includes anticipating the leadership team’s information needs and taking primary responsibility for the firm’s financial operations.
PayRange
Base pay range: $85,000.00/yr - $/yr.
Responsibilities- Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of accounts receivable progress billings based upon specific or unique contract terms.
- Manage all aspects of accounts receivable, aging reports, and personally undertake timely, assertive, and effective collections.
- Strategically manage the payment process to vendors and subcontractors, confirming lien waivers are properly collected.
- Monitor and forecast daily cash balances to ensure cash flow requirements are met.
- Preparation and timely updating of construction contract schedules.
- In conjunction with project managers, prepare weekly project cost reports and projections to monitor spending, achieve desired profitability, and avoid margin erosion.
- Preparation of the weekly payroll for regular and prevailing wage employees, including timely submission of payroll reports.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and other management reports for the company and affiliated entities; periodically present financial statements to Ownership and Board.
- Create meaningful budgets in collaboration with Ownership and Board and manage budgets to ensure fiscal health and compliance; “sounding the alarm” when material budget variances are first detected.
- Manage all aspects of HR compliance with respect to insurance, employee benefits, and timely and complete governmental reporting and compliance. Supervise and collaborate with select support staff (both remote and in‑office).
- Mentor direct and lateral reports to strengthen their roles and responsibilities as the company continues to grow.
- Perform routine tasks and special assignments as directed by the Ownership and Board of Directors.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting (or similar).
- Four (4) years of verifiable construction/project‑related experience.
- Ability to read and interpret project contracts and other construction/project‑related documents.
- Excellent attention to detail in all work products and deliverables.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible.
- Sense of urgency and expedition of time‑sensitive issues.
- Critical thinking, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Self‑starter with solid multi‑tasking and follow‑up skills.
- Responsive and accommodating to requests made by internal staff and client representatives.
- Must have excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
