We are seeking an experienced and highly adaptable Resource Registered Nurse (RN) to join a small, rural healthcare facility.
This is a float/resource position requiring a nurse who can work independently, adapt quickly, and step in wherever patient-care needs arise. The successful candidate will have strong experience in the Emergency Department (ED), Medical-Surgical (MS), and Progressive Care/PCU environments.
This position is ideal for an experienced RN who is comfortable working in a small facility, managing multiple priorities, and providing high-quality care with minimal supervision.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide professional nursing care to patients across assigned departments and units.
Float between departments and provide coverage wherever needed.
Assess and reassess patients' physical, psychosocial, and general healthcare needs.
Perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
Assess and manage patient pain using appropriate interventions.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
Revise the plan of care based on the patient's response to treatment and changing clinical condition.
Determine priorities of care based on patient needs and factors affecting patient flow.
Communicate changes in patient condition, symptoms, and diagnostic results to physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
Respond quickly and appropriately to changes in patient condition.
Administer medications safely and accurately according to established medication-administration standards.
Follow the six rights of medication administration and take appropriate steps to minimize medication errors.
Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatments, pain management, and identified healthcare needs.
Develop individualized patient and family education plans and evaluate their effectiveness.
Assist physicians with procedures in the PCU and other departments as needed.
Perform treatments and nursing services within the scope of licensure.
Monitor cardiac rhythms, identify dysrhythmias, and respond appropriately according to ACLS protocols.
Monitor hemodynamic status and accurately interpret relevant clinical information.
Provide care for patients with nutritional and metabolic needs.
Provide care for patients requiring complex fluid and electrolyte management.
Assist with admissions, transfers, and other patient-flow activities.
Communicate clearly and effectively with charge nurses, physicians, coworkers, patients, and families.
Collaborate with other departments to provide coordinated, interdisciplinary patient care.
Remain flexible and organized while working effectively in stressful or rapidly changing situations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required QualificationsCurrent Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Hampshire.
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
Current BLS certification (AHA).
Current ACLS certification (AHA).
Strong clinical experience in:
Emergency Department (ED)
Medical-Surgical (MS)
Progressive Care/PCU
High proficiency working in both ED and MS/PCU settings.
Willingness and ability to float between departments and units as needed.
Ability to assist with admissions, transfers, and other patient-care needs.
Ability to work independently and adapt quickly in a small healthcare facility.
Strong assessment, clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.
COVID-19 vaccination required.
Additional Certification RequirementPALS or ENPC certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience working in a rural or small healthcare facility.
Experience functioning as a resource or float RN.
Ability to transition effectively between multiple clinical environments.
Strong ability to "hit the ground running" with limited orientation and supervision.
Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a small, rural healthcare facility and requires a high degree of flexibility. The Resource RN must be comfortable being assigned to different units and responding to changing staffing and patient-care needs.
