Job Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all suppliers meet the company’s standards for safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role involves evaluating and selecting suppliers, conducting audits, driving continuous improvement, and managing supplier performance. The ideal candidate will serve as a key liaison between suppliers and internal cross‑functional teams, ensuring that all production parts meet quality requirements and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate and select suppliers based on safety, quality, delivery, and cost criteria.
- Track, qualify, or disqualify suppliers according to company standards.
- Conduct regular audits of supplier Quality Systems, Processes, and Products.
- Collaborate with suppliers to implement process controls and develop quality assurance plans.
- Review and approve Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions from suppliers.
- Prepare and submit supplier evaluation reports, action plans, and maintain the Approved Supplier List.
- Lead corrective actions based on supplier 8D reports or non‑conformance issues.
- Conduct in‑depth reviews and follow‑ups on supplier action plans for poor performance.
- Develop sampling procedures and documentation for quality and reliability data.
- Report supplier performance and quality metrics to immediate superior.
- Prepare and present Operations Review, Supplier and Internal Quality KPIs, and annual action plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate superior.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in supplier quality or manufacturing quality engineering.
- Strong knowledge of quality systems, auditing techniques, and PPAP.
- Experience with 8D problem‑solving methodology and root cause analysis.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Ability to travel to supplier locations as needed.
