Position: Information Architect I

The Information Architect I will work within a collaborative team environment to support a wide range of North American scientific data initiatives. This role involves data architecture, data design, data governance, and quality management activities aimed at ensuring integrity, accessibility, and integration of critical business data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement data architecture and workflows.
  • Design logical and physical source data models.
  • Generate data profiling reports and execute data audits.
  • Define data taxonomy, data definitions, metadata, and lineage.
  • Cleanse data and correct quality defects.
  • Create and manage master and reference data, including hierarchies and affiliations.
  • Establish and monitor data quality procedures in partnership with business units and international data quality teams.
  • Support data governance by creating rules, metrics, and control mechanisms.
  • Translate data requirements into business processes and vice versa.
  • Work with cross-functional teams using Agile and Dev Ops methodologies.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in English, both written and oral.
  • Experience in translating complex data requirements into structured business processes.
  • Expert knowledge of SQL and data manipulation tools.
  • Proficiency in data modeling (logical and physical), ER diagrams, data normalization/denormalization.
  • Hands-on experience with BI and data visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Dev Ops frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of ETL processes.
  • Experience managing scientific data.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Programming skills in languages such as VBA, Python, and XML.
  • Familiarity with agile data modeling practices.
  • Ability to reverse-engineer business processes into data requirements.
  • Previous experience working with international teams, particularly in data governance contexts.
Certifications (if any)
  • Certifications related to data architecture, data management (e.g., DAMA, CDMP), or cloud platforms are a plus.
