What Is a Material Handler?The Material Handler performs routine activities involving the storing, stocking, and handling of materials, systems, and products. This is a first shift position with hours from 7am‑3:30pm.
Desired ExperienceThe ideal candidate has recent experience in a material handling position within a manufacturing environment.
Duties and Responsibilities- Ensure accurate documentation and tracking of materials and inventory.
- Visually inspect products to ensure they have not been damaged or deteriorated during handling, storage, packaging, or shipping.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance to maintain equipment in top operational order.
- Track inventory to prepare other documentation on a computer.
- Effectively perform material handling activities such as crating, packing, shipping, receiving, picking, lifting, moving, and using equipment when necessary (lift trucks, tow motors, cranes, high lifts, etc.).
- Utilize small and large tools, hoists, dollies, and other devices when necessary.
- Comply with all safety procedures in each area assigned, including wearing protective clothing, special handling of chemicals, and safety/rescue equipment usage.
- Interact and communicate with all levels of employees, suppliers, customers, and peers effectively.
- Comply with policies, procedures, standards, and rules of the company.
- Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
- Maintain the work area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
- Maintain punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.
- Perform all other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Tow motor experience is preferred.
- One year related manufacturing experience preferred.
- Previous experience in a material handling department preferred.
- Must be computer literate.
- Ability to handle non‑routine, standard projects and tasks.
- Ability to read simple blueprints and technical specifications.
- Read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.
- Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds using proper techniques or equipment.
- Regularly required to walk, stand, bend, twist, climb, and reach with hands or arms.
- Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and cold on a regular basis.
- Must respond to changing requirements and working conditions.
- Overtime required at periodic intervals to meet project deadlines.
