CNC Set-Up/Operator (2 nd shift)

What is a CNC Set‑Up/Operator?
This role is responsible for setting up, programming (editing), operating, and loading multi‑axis CNC horizontal and vertical machining centers, turning centers, multi‑station load stations, or other equipment under the direction of a lead or supervisor to produce parts to specification.

What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have one to three years of related CNC machining experience and will report to the 2 nd shift Production Supervisor. Hours are Monday‑Thursday 3:30 pm‑1 am and Friday 3:30 pm‑7:30 pm.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Effectively set‑up and operate equipment under the direction of a lead or supervisor in the CNC machining area.
• Select required cutting tools, tool grades, and proper speeds and feeds from the programming document.
• Fill in details of blueprints and schematics from provided information.
• Inspect all parts manufactured in the specific machining area and perform quality‑related statistical analysis (e.g., SPC).
• Perform routine preventative maintenance such as daily or weekly oiling, greasing, and checking coolant levels and concentrations.
• Comply with all safety procedures, wearing protective clothing and handling chemicals, products, and rescue equipment as required.
• Interact and communicate with all levels of employees, suppliers, customers, and peers effectively.
• Comply with company policies, procedures, standards, and rules.
• Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
• Demonstrate punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.
• Perform all other job‑related duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.
• At least one year of related machining experience.
• Preferred CNC certificate.
• Ability to read simple blueprints and technical specifications.
• Ability to handle routine projects and tasks under close supervision.
• Basic understanding of mathematics, including geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to handle non‑routine, standard projects and tasks.

Physical and Technical Environment

• Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds using proper lifting techniques or available equipment.
• Use manual wrenches and tools to clamp and unclamp parts in fixturing.
• Must be on feet all day.
• Specific vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Regularly required to walk, stand, bend, twist, climb, reach with hands or arms.
• Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and cold on a regular basis; must respond to changing requirements and working conditions.
