CNC Operator

Production Level 1 employees are responsible for one or more fundamental aspects of the manufacturing of glass and optical components. Potential tasks for a CNC operator include: preparing and operating CNC machines to perfrom tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, etc. of glass and optical components. This is an entry level position and has minimal independent decision making responsibility. Must be able to understand instructions whether they are written or verbal, and follow said instructions.

Must complete work with accuracy and efficiency. The nature of all production positions is repetitive motions for extended periods of time.

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

• Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling etc.
• Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.
• Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
• Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
• Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications
• Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts
• Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
• Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
• Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality
• Production of products consistent with quality control standards established.
• Production of products consistent with units per man and cost per unit established requirements.
• Maintain a heightened level of focus on SAFETY.
• Maintain good housekeeping and waste management practices.

High School Graduate or equivalent.
Previous experience of 1-2 years in a manufacturing environment desirable
