Minimum Requirements:
Master's Degree in Counseling
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides academic, career, and social counseling to students; implements an effective referral and follow-up process
- Participates in registration and student orientation sessions
- Assists students individually or in groups with developing academic, career, and personal/social skills, goals, and plans; provides individual and group counseling to students with identified concerns and needs
- Consults and collaborates effectively with teachers, administrators, and other educational/community resources regarding students with identified concerns and needs
- Provides appropriate information to staff related to the comprehensive school counseling program
- Participates in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills
- Utilizes available technology resources to enhance the school counseling programs
- Adheres to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the counseling profession
- Teaches orientation classes as needed
- Monitors student academic performance, behavior, and attendance; assists with appropriate interventions
- Evaluates school counseling program activities and shares results as appropriate
- Serves on department and campus committees and accepts committee assignments
- Participates in campus activities and programs
- Performs other duties as assigned by the department chair or the Dean Academic Affairs
