Position Summary

The After School Care Provider is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for school‑aged children during after‑school hours. This role includes supervising students, assisting with homework, facilitating recreational activities, and maintaining compliance with all Bright from the Start:
Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) regulations.

  • Provide active supervision of children in all areas, following BFTS active supervision standards at all times.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure authorized pick‑up procedures are followed.
  • Serve snacks in accordance with CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) and program policies.
  • Assist children with homework, reading, or enrichment activities as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment that complies with BFTS safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Report any injuries, behavioral issues, or incidents to the supervisor and complete required documentation.
  • Communicate positively and professionally with parents and staff.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions required by BFTS licensing and the program.
  • Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the staff handbook and BFTS guidelines.
Compensation

Hourly wage based on experience and qualifications. This is a part‑time position with no health benefits.

Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old and meet BFTS staff qualification requirements for school‑age care.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; CDA, TCC, or related coursework in child development preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children in a licensed childcare or after‑school program preferred.
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check and fingerprinting through DECAL/BFTS.
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Ability to relate to children and their families with warmth, patience, and professionalism.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit on the floor, bend, and move quickly in response to child needs
  • Visual and auditory ability to observe and monitor child safety
