Residential Advisor/Direct Care Staff Position
Positive Growth RCP serves young men 12-21 years of age from diverse backgrounds. We work on behalf of minors who have child welfare status and who are unable to live at home, that have had multiple placements in other child-care facilities, first time placement, emergency placement, have been removed from their homes as a result of abuse, neglect, abandonment or in need of close supervision.
Youth accepted into the program may be experiencing education set-backs, have strained relationships with their families, delinquency, refuse to seek help, and experiencing at least minor levels of emotional distress (e.g., depression, anxiety, op positional behavior, compulsive behavior).
Our Residential Care Advisors (Direct Care Staff) provide assistance and training to children and adolescents with mental health and behavioral issues in a residential setting. We’re looking for people who believe in a strengths-based approach, and use positive practices to help guide their everyday activities. This role provides direction and behavioral support through the use of trauma informed care, including goal and objective reviews, socialization activities, group participation, and assisting with daily living skills.
Residents are monitored per their individualized safety plans.
- Provide assistance and training to children and adolescents with mental health and behavioral issues in a residential setting.
- Use a strengths-based approach and trauma-informed care, including goal and objective reviews, socialization activities, group participation, and assisting with daily living skills.
- Monitor residents per their individualized safety plans.
- Complete shift tasks such as behavioral point system, shift/progress notes, charting, prepare meals, assist with daily living and social skills, clean, manage medications, take residents to appointments/outings, interact with family members and other service providers.
- Must have a valid GA driver’s license and be able to drive an organization automobile/van
- Able to pass a background check
- Be at minimum 21 years of age
- Two years experience working with children
The hours for this position need to be flexible due to the 24 hour nature of the agency. Part Time hours from 16-32 hours per week. The primary days needed are evening and weekends; with shifts of 3pm-11pm, 11pm-8am, 8am-4pm with flexibility to cover other days and shifts. Holidays, and weekends as required. Hours and schedule may vary at the discretion of supervisor and agency needs.
