The Teller I conducts transactions with speed, accuracy, and efficiency while meeting or exceeding service quality standards. The Teller I safeguards bank assets assigned to them and contributes to the growth of the bank by promoting and cross-selling bank products and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Receives, pays out cash, handles negotiable items, loan payments, deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
  • Sets up, closes, and balances teller station.
  • Records sales of monetary instruments.
  • Assists customers with inquiries in person or by telephone.
  • Maintains neat and well-stocked teller area.
  • Cross-sells bank products and services.
  • Follows limits established for protection of customer accounts and bank safety and soundness.
  • Adheres to bank policies and procedures.
  • Lift coin bags up to 50 lbs.
  • Assists with balancing Vault, ATM, Night Drop, and Coin Machine as assigned.
  • Assists with proper scanning of bank documents and proof work.
  • Exercises judgment when applying holds and making check cashing decisions.
  • Cross-trains to be available to open basic new consumer accounts.
  • Adheres to work schedule. Must be flexible in availability for work schedule.
  • Maintains positive, friendly, and professional attitude and appearance.
  • May be required to work at an alternative location within the region or market.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Completes required BSA/AML training and other compliance training annually.
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Requirements

    Education and Experience

    Equivalent to four years high school or GED, with emphasis in office or shop skills, plus 0 to 6 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Communication Skills

    Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person or in small groups with customers, clients, the public, and employees.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers, including using money and measurement tools.

    Critical Thinking Skills

    Ability to use common sense to carry out simple multi-step instructions and deal with standardized situations with limited variables.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    None required; not indicated as preferred.

    Software Skills

    Basic knowledge of 10-Key, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing.

    Responsibility for Work of Others

    No supervision; responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, training, and performance appraisal of employees.

    Working Conditions

    Periodic exposure to noise, intermittent standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Moderate noise level in environment.

    Physical Activities

    Includes talking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, handling, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Vision abilities include close vision.
